WHO IS JESUS ?

Is Jesus who Christians say he is ? Is he the Son of God and the same as God or was he just another prophet, a good man ? We must look to the bible for the answer.

Perhaps the most fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith is that of the deity of Jesus Christ. It is this doctrine that Satan himself has attempted to destroy throughout Christian history. I believe in the Holy Trinity, that is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This page does not deal with the personage of the Holy Spirit nor does it deal in depth concerning the attributes of God the Father. I do not consider any religion that rejects Jesus as God to be true Christian religion. That is not a dictionary definition but it is my sincere conviction on this matter. People cannot be saved by Christ if they don't even recognize who he is. So who is he ?

I know that there are many ways in which people interpret the Bible but the truth is the truth regardless of our interpretation of it. Perhaps rather than adding to or twisting scripture we should just take it at face value. What could Jesus have meant when he said the following ? (John 10:30)-"I and my Father are one".

God is eternal. He has no beginning and he has no end. Man on the other hand has a beginning but there is no end concerning the existence of his soul. We must believe that anything outside of God himself was created at some time and that only God is eternal past. Christ as part of that Godhead is also eternal. He was not created in Bethlehem.

(John 17:5)-And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Man was created in the image of his Triune God. Man is a body, spirit, and mind(soul). These three are all necessary for life and to function. If we are jsut a body as science proposes then there is nothing after death. It is naive to think that when the bible says we are created in the image of God it means that God looks just like a man. It is not hands and toes that he was speaking of. God is a Spirit.

(John 4:24)-God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

I believe that God was speaking to Christ during the creation in Genesis chapter one, verse twenty-six. Notice the words "us", and "our".

(Genesis 1:26)-And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Some might say that he was talking to angels and that we were made in all of their images but the next verse says emphatically that God created man in his own image. (Genesis 1:27)-So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. If you do not believe in the trinity then Genesis chapter one is contradictory to John chapter one. Genesis one says that God created everything and John says that Jesus made everything. Both can only be true if Jesus is God. (John 1:1)-In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2)-The same was in the beginning with God. (3)-All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Jesus Christ is the Word(logos) as John calls him. He is the divine expression of God. (1 John 5:7)-For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The apostle Phillip wanted to see the father and expressed that to Jesus in the following verses. (John 14:8)-Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. (9)-Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

Many questions are asked by doubters when they see distinct expressions and separations of Jesus and God in biblical accounts but the overwhelming amount of scripture pertaining to Christ's deity cannot be ignored even if with man's mind it cannot all be understood. How does the soul separate itself from the body at death ? I do not know the answer but God does and God is only complete in Trinity.

Jesus is my God ! That's who he is.
